My Desperate Cry (Psalms 109)

Lyrics

My Desperate Cry (Psalms 109)

[verse 1]

O God of my praise, do not stay silent,

For wicked tongues rise, their hearts are violent.

With lies they surround, with hate they attack,

Though I’ve shown them love, they repay me with lack.

[verse 2]

They speak words of malice, deceit fills their breath,

Their aim is destruction, their plot is my death.

In return for my kindness, they’ve sown only strife,

They’ve cast me in darkness, they’ve sought out my life.

[Chorus ]

But I cry to You, O righteous and true,

For justice belongs to none but You.

In the midst of the storm, my heart still will sing,

For You are my refuge, my shelter, my King.

[Verse 3]

Appoint a judge to stand at their side,

Let their sins be exposed, let truth not hide.

When they plead for mercy, let none be found,

May justice, unyielding, in judgment resound.

[Verse 4]

Let their days be few, their plans torn apart,

Another take all that once filled their heart.

May their children wander, abandoned, alone,

With no one to shelter, no place to call home.

[Chorus ]

But I cry to You, O righteous and true,

For justice belongs to none but You.

In the midst of the storm, my heart still will sing,

For You are my refuge, my shelter, my King.
